Technology gives us as teachers the ability to provide students with additional tools and resources to help all students achieve their learning goals.
Here are some resource ideas:
Have the students write on Word or Google Docs. Spell check is a great confidence booster for students with learning disabilities such as Dyslexia. It helps them catch and correct their mistakes.
Read & Write for Google Chrome- https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/readwrite-for-google-chro/inoeonmfapjbbkmdafoankkfajkcphgd?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-search This Chrome extension allows students to hear the words, highlight in various colors, and even a built in dictionary. Text can be translated to other languages in order to aid ELL students. Allows you to create and listen to voice notes. There’s a free premium subscription for teachers at rw.texthelp.com/freeforteachers after installing the Read&Write for Google Chrome trial.
EduPlace- http://www.eduplace.com/graphicorganizer/ offers a lot of graphic organizers to help student writers organize their ideas and writing. Upload the pdf to Google Docs to modify it or install DocHub.
Read Write & Think- http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/student-interactives/ provides a variety of interactive writing and reading tools.
