Depression in schools is a big problem that often goes unrecognized. The estimates of children impacted by depression is as high as 20% of school aged kids. Signs can begin as early as first grade. Early detection is critical and school nurses are uniquely positioned to spot the precursors and to intervene. This segment provides invaluable guidelines for school practice.
