Benjamin Faleye, Ibraheem Bello, Jemil Oyebisi, and Temidayo Adefioye started project CATARA after they heard of a story of a friend who was unaware he had been living with a cataract for quite some time, which eventually caused him to go blind. Had he known about the issue early on, it could have been solved. Because of this, the team wanted to create a solution that would detect early signs of cataracts and prevent people from going blind.
