Hurricane Katrina, 9/11 and the oil spill in the gulf are all examples of types of disasters that have traumatized us. But what is the impact of these sorts of events on very young children. Our guests give us insight in to how profoundly disasters can impact the lives the emotional stability of young children and offers guidance to parents, teachers and caregivers on restoring normalcy.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, Cathy Grace spearheaded a multi-million dollar effort to rebuild and equip damaged and destroyed early childhood programs in the Mississippi Katrina region. Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi appointed Grace in June 2008 to the Mississippi Early Childhood Advisory Council.
